HR Tech Interview with Daniel Weisblat, R&D HRBP and Recruitment Lead at monday.com
What are some of the top considerations for today’s global workforce when it comes to ensuring everyone across the hierarchy is always aligned to a common business goal despite work challenges surrounding the ongoing pandemic? Daniel Weisblat, R&D HRBP and Recruitment Lead at monday.com talks about their team’s journey through 2020 while sharing a few thoughts on what HR needs more of in 2021: ____ I am an HRBP for the R&D and Recruitment Lead at monday.com, focused on hiring best in class people for engineering and the R&D team. I am responsible for ensuring the recruitment and onboarding process reflects monday.com’s culture, hiring qualified employees using data and an efficient, egoless interview process. We’ve grown remarkably over the past few years in order to meet the growing demand for flexible workflows and software. Specifically, with the shift to remote work we’ve seen a demand for a work OS to help teams manage their everyday work, and are happy we can provide that for people. In the first few months after COVID hit we hired 30 employees on the R&D team, and over 200 as a company. HR Technology News: TecHRseries Interview with James Norwood, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at isolved As the company has grown, we’ve been able to stay true to our core values of transparency and putting people first – this is equally reflected in our interviewing process as it is throughout an employee’s time at the company. With the shift to remote work, it’s been even more important to be able to communicate with your team and get everyone on the same page. We use our own platform to track candidates – we can easily see what location candidates are in, what stage of the process they’re in, and contact details. It will be increasingly important in a remote or hybrid work environment, to have a seamless way to easily view information and share it across the entire HR team. We’ve also found that this year especially and in the year to come it’s incredibly important for the HR team to lead with compassion and empower leaders with more tools for awareness and sensitivity to stress and burnout. Similarly, we need to put more emphasis on intrinsic motivation and providing mental support to employees. We use Comeet, collaborative recruiting software to align our team. It’s been very helpful for finding better candidates, automating processes and growing our team faster. In order to make sure our team is aligned, we use Zoom for meetings, and bob for HR. Of course, we also use our own platform monday.com to manage all steps of the recruiting process and convey information in a transparent way to the whole team. One tech trend that we’ve implemented during COVID that we would like to continue doing in the near future is remote hiring and virtual interviews. Remote hiring is beneficial for shortening the ‘time to hire’ since interviews are conducted online and do not require an in-person presence. It is less complicated to schedule time for an interview – candidates used to be available only before or after a workday which really narrows down the availability of the hiring manager and candidate. With virtual interviews, we are able to move faster and get to know candidates quicker. In the near future, we would like to keep aspects of our remote process across our teams. HR Technology News: TecHRseries Interview with Doug Stephen, President, Learning Division at CGS When COVID-19 hit, monday.com hit the ground running to ensure our internal teams and customers alike were equipped with remote work strategies. We created a remote work hub to share stories, tips and tricks, and the company made sure everyone was equipped with the tools they needed to work from home. monday.com also offered free and complete use of the platform to any non-profit organization working to fight the coronavirus outbreak, and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to areas affected by the outbreak. As we began the rhythm of working from home every day, monday.com also ensured that we were continuing to keep up our culture with happy hours and at-home deliveries of fun surprises. One highlight was that we held our annual Elevate conference, which brings the global monday.com community together to share best practices and innovation, virtually for the first time. Our theme this year focused on the rapidly evolving nature of work, reflecting on the significant changes + what’s ahead. We had amazing speakers including Magic Johnson (fmr. NBA star) and Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton) + execs at The New York Times, NHL, HSBC, Mars Wrigley, Zippo and more. I recommend working with tools that help with efficient teamwork, that sync across all devices and can be used by anyone at the company to ensure there is full transparency, even when work is remote. It’s also important to be mindful that people are going through a difficult time with a lot of new challenges. Zoom meetings can be tactical and professional, lacking the small talk and little moments of connection you get from working with your coworkers in an office. Dedicate the beginning of certain meetings to checking in with people on a personal level, or schedule evening happy hours or a virtual cooking class to spend quality time with coworkers. HR Technology News: TecHRseries Interview with Dr. Christy Petrosso, Chief Data Scientist and Talent Economist at… Remember that people can lose perspective because they are not working next to other people in the office so it’s easy to forget that you’re all working towards a common goal. As a manager or someone who can see the full picture, it is even more important to invest time and effort in connecting everyone to it. monday.com is a customizable Work OS where teams create and shape workflows to plan, run, and track their processes, projects, and operations. As a web-based SaaS platform, monday.com facilitates a more efficient and intuitive way to manage teams and organizations of all sizes. The platform connects people to processes and systems, empowering teams to excel in every aspect of their work, while creating an environment of transparency in business.
