Human Resources leader brings human-centered nonprofit management expertise as member of GreenPath’s Executive Leadership Team
GreenPath Financial Wellness, a national nonprofit that provides financial counseling and debt management services, welcomes Susan Murphy as Chief People Officer. In the role, Susan will build on GreenPath’s strong culture of empathy, compassion, meaning and impact, fostering an inclusive culture that connects people to be their whole selves at work.

Susan Murphy has been named GreenPath’s Chief People Officer. She will build on the national nonprofit’s strong culture of empathy, compassion, meaning and impact. She brings vast experience in community impact, fund development, and human-centered design.
Susan most recently served as Vice President of Human Resources, Organizational Development and Governance at United Way for Southeastern Michigan where she led initiatives to create an engaging workplace, steward effective governance, and support a productive board to enable the organization to advance its mission. She brings a strong foundation in both human-centered design which puts people at the center of organizational initiatives, and a commitment to inclusion and diversity as evidenced from her leadership in these areas. During more than 17 years with the organization, Susan held a series of increasingly responsible positions in the areas of community impact, fund development, operations, and corporate governance, and served as a Global Resident Fellow with United Way Worldwide.

Prior to joining United Way, Susan held roles in human service organizations in the areas of youth development, vocational training and rehabilitation, employment coaching, and senior services.
Susan earned her master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University and holds certifications through the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and International Coach Federation (ICF). She is passionate about helping others develop, grow, lead more successfully, and ultimately increase their personal and professional satisfaction.
