The world’s leading corporate networking and job advertising platform LinkedIn has set a new milestone for its users in 2021. The company, supported by Microsoft, will help 250,000 companies hire for skills-based jobs in 2021, providing enterprise users with high-end technical and advisory guidance on how to hire top talent through the crisis. According to LinkedIn, it has digitally-mapped close to 690 million professionals, 50 million companies, 11 million job listings, 36K skills, and 90k schools featuring on LinkedIn pages. This data is used to identify in-demand jobs and the most-relevant skills that drive the global hiring patterns.

LinkedIn will Help 25 Million Job Seekers Get Back to Work
In the latest LinkedIn survey on workplace representation, a majority of members have acknowledged that their idea of authentic identity has changed during the COVID-19 months. Job-seekers and Hiring Managers, both accepted that gender pronoun and authentic representation are as important as skills-based hiring.
- More than 50% (55%) of job seekers agree that gender is an important aspect of their identity, both in and out of the workplace, and 70% of job seekers believe it’s important that recruiters and hiring managers know their gender pronoun.
- More than 70% (72%) of hiring managers believe having clarity about a candidate’s self-identification (i.e. gender pronouns) is beneficial and helps others to be respectful of their identity.
In an official statement, LinkedIn announced that it is expanding the work of its global skills initiative with Microsoft. They will launch new resources that will help job seekers and employers move to a skills-based economy. In June 2020, LinkedIn had launched the global skills initiative to help candidates and employers meet each other and develop a conducive ecosystem for jobs and training. Since then, 30 million people have used LinkedIn’s timely resources to develop digital-first skills for the most in-demand jobs of the year.
Launching LinkedIn Profile
In addition to setting a new target for 2021, LinkedIn also upgraded its product offering, introducing the all-new LinkedIn Profile features to help members better represent themselves in light of modern diversity, inclusion and employability metric.
New LinkedIn Profile features include these:
Cover Story
Users can now create and upload a short video to their profile to grab the attention of hiring managers and recruiters.
Pronoun fields
LinkedIn members can add their gender pronouns and showcase their core identity at the top of their Profile.
Creator mode
Users can now create their own storyline and grow their followers’ list using relevant content hashtags and storyboards.
Service Pages
Specially designed for freelancers, Service Page will allow non-corporate individuals to showcase their services, offerings and pro-bono opportunities linked to their Profile.
LinkedIn Learning Paths
LinkedIn also announced the 10 LinkedIn Learning Paths that are aligned with top jobs available for everyone for free.
In addition, Microsoft Learn is offering free and in-depth technical learning content that also supports these roles and job seekers pursuing developer roles can access the GitHub Learning Lab to practice their skills.
The 10 role-based learning paths are:
