HRTech Interview with Lisa Wallace, Director of Product at Assemble by Deel

Leading all in one HRTech platform Deel recently acquired Assemble to transform global compensation management; we caught up with Lisa Wallace, Director of Product at Assemble (acquired by Deel) to discuss what to expect from the newly merged tools:

____________

Hi Lisa, tell us about your role at Deel and your time in the HRTech market?

I first started in the HR tech space when I founded Assemble. My Co-Founder and I  come from different backgrounds – I was a hiring manager and he led strategic finance – but, we were both involved in the org’s compensation strategy. We found the problem of tackling comp, or how you reward your team, fascinating to tackle and often overlooked by leadership. We wanted to build tech & AI-powered tools to help teams reward global talent.

I’m very excited to be building these solutions into the platform at Deel, where I lead our global compensation product development.

What about today’s state of HRTech most interests you?

HR technology has reached an inflection point. Companies are rapidly becoming more global and distributed (just look at Deel!), bringing novel challenges. Thankfully innovations in AI and automation are giving HR practitioners the insights they need to tackle these challenges with SaaS tools like never before. It’s an exciting time to be in the space.

What can end users look forward to from Deel, and what Deel will do with Assemble, in 2025?

Deel is going to bring Assemble under its umbrella of services. We’ll offer it either as a service on its own, or as a bundle of services with Deel’s other products (like EOR, performance tracking, IT, etc).

Joining Deel is helping our team think bigger and better about compensation strategy. As part of Deel’s suite of products, what we do will get smarter and more unified with direct integrations to other apps like payroll and performance. We can enrich compensation workflows with more reporting and automation with the help of Deel, too.

We’d love to hear more from you about Deel’s latest acquisition of Assemble and how it helps deliver a more comprehensive HRTech solution to users? What was attractive about Deel to Assemble?

Joining Deel was a no-brainer for me and my team, given it’s the only human capital management system of its scale and global reach. With 35,000 customers and data from hundreds of thousands of employees around the world, we’re able to deliver insights for how to build best-in-class global compensation strategies that are differentiated from anything else on the market.

By adding Assemble to its stable of offerings, Deel is making it possible for HR leaders to manage every aspect of their workforce in a series of clicks, with total confidence that everything they’re doing is compliant and up-to-date.

For HR teams looking to enhance their compensation management in 2025: what top tips come to mind?

More than ever, it is  safe and smart to rely on technology to help with compensation management – especially with new AI-powered tools. Teams that aren’t relying on AI to help them be smarter, faster and more consistent will be considered behind in 2025. Especially for rapidly growing companies, compensation information changes faster than it is possible to keep up with, so AI-powered tools can take the guesswork out of what the latest information is, and who it applies to. Custom GPTs can also help make sure that everyone at a company that is talking about compensation, from HR leaders to individual managers, is singing from the same song sheet to avoid confusion or inconsistencies among employees.

Can you share a few thoughts / predictions on how you feel HRTech is set to evolve in 2025 and beyond?

It’s safe to say – this starts with AI. HR leaders can and should be using it to automate decisions and ensure consistent use of best practices across the board. Vendors who are extra savvy will use AI to offer more than was previously possible to their customers – it won’t just be basic workflows, but advanced insights and reporting that would have previously been too time-consuming or burdensome for HR administrators to offer.
