There are many HR tools that have integrated augmented reality capabilities into their platforms.

  1. AR in Communication

In the last few years, augmented reality and virtual reality have already transformed the way teams learn, interact and communicate in the organization. AR based wearables have added immersive experiences for teams and have opened doors to improve interpersonal communication. VR and AR based devices are able to offer deeper visual communication exchanges.

  1. AR/VR in Recruitment

Accenture is utilizing the power of AR devices in its recruitment and onboarding process. The team says that it gives them proper insights about the potential candidate and they can assess them properly. In case of Accenture, the candidate wears an AR headset and he virtually enters an Egyptian Crypt where he has to solve a series of hieroglyphics. This is a unique exercise for candidates for software programming. This helps the recruitment team filter out the best candidates and reduces the burden of selection as well.

  1. AR in Onboarding

Onboarding is a critical stage where the new candidate has to be told and explained everything about the company, its policies, procedures and culture. A few companies are using immersive technologies where the selected candidates can take a virtual tour of the office and while they navigate through the virtual tour, they are told everything they should know on their first day. For instance, Blippar has collaborated with companies like General Electric and Papa Murphy to implement AR in giving onboarding instructions.

  1. AR/VR in Training and Development

In the arena of training and development, the potential of AR and VR is high, however, the potential is still untapped. There are some kinds of training that are quite easy to offer with AR devices for instance, the training of diversity and inclusion. With the help of a VR device, the manager can make the team step into someone else’s shoes in an immersive environment. The VR provider Vantage Point has developed an immersive experience that illustrates the subtleties of harassment, grooming and discrimination at the workplace very interactively.

  1. AR in workplace collaboration

The scope of Augmented Reality in workplace collaboration is widening. The platform Spatial has the ability to transform the space around the employees into a shared and augmented workplace. The users or the incumbents can create their desktop avatars or that of any colleagues using the VR headset at the same time. They can use devices like HoloLens or Magic leap to find themselves in their space. Screen share is also possible in such an environment and this kind of an environment is the best for remote workers so that they can feel connected with the people who would have been present with them in the office.
