- Governments around the world commit funding to reskilling and upskilling but access to assessment will be the key to success
Over half the global workforce will need reskilling or upskilling by the end of 20221, but success can only be achieved if programs meet employee needs, says Questionmark, the leading online assessment provider.
Governments around the world, including those in the US2, UK3 and Australia4 have announced funding for reskilling and upskilling programs. Making sure training and assessment are widely available will top the skills agenda in 2022.

The key to success will be in how training and assessment are delivered. With the rise of hybrid learning and assessment, providers may find that they must provide in-person, virtual and hybrid options if they are to meet expectations.
This requires a technical foundation, says Questionmark, which is urging providers to ensure that they have a scalable platform in place. The right platform allows for a consistent user experience, whether assessment is in person or online.

John Kleeman, Founder of Questionmark, said: “Time will tell whether the job market in 2022 continues to be driven by mass resignations as it was last year. Whatever happens, governments are now putting their weight behind a range of reskilling and upskilling initiatives. The key to success is to deliver these in a way that meets worker needs, both in terms of their content and their format. With uncertainty about the safety of mixing with peers and colleagues unlikely to end any time soon, organizations need to invest in online learning platforms, as these are the most adaptable, regardless of what the pandemic may throw at you in 2022.”
To aid upskilling program providers and employers, Questionmark has published a paper aimed at improving the effectiveness of training through assessments. “Measuring the effectiveness of learning” is available to download now.
