Schneider Electric Commits To Accelerate Skilling Initiatives In Karnataka: To Hire 200+ Women Students Every Year From Govt. ITI In Mysuru
Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and next-gen automation solutions, committed to support the skilling initiatives at Govt. of Karnataka I.T.I. Belavadi by providing smart infrastructure and announcing plans to increase women hiring for its manufacturing facility in Mysuru, Karnataka. Mr. Deepak Sharma, Zone president Greater India and MD & CEO, SEIPL with Mr. Amit Kumar, Vice president and Head, Mysuru campus met Mrs. Manjula. S, Joint Director, Mysuru Division, Industrial Training & Employment Department and Mrs. Lalitha M.R, Principal Govt I.T.I Belavadi and training officers, to discuss the skilling requirements.
Mr Sharma also visited the Electrical lab set up by the company, which provides exposure to students towards new technological developments within the electrical field. Schneider Electric has supplied latest digital and smart energy meters, MCB’s, switches and modern house wiring models which will familiarize the trainees with the recent technological developments in the electrical field.
Within the State of Karnataka, Schneider Electric trains 3375 youth every year across ~ 45 skill development centres, including 16 Women ITIs. The company also operates a Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru, established in partnership with Karnataka Skill Ministry and Ministry of Education, France. In this COE, training is provided to trainers from ITI, Polytechnic Institutes in Karnataka, and other states.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Zone President Greater India, and MD & CEO, Schneider Electric India said, “Schneider Electric India Foundation is committed to bridging the skilling gap in the field of electrical and energy management, and sustainability. I am elated to meet the leadership and the students at Govt ITI, Belavadi wherein we are currently providing latest technology & infrastructure support. I am committed to improve the gender diversity in these fields, hence we have announced plans to hire ~ 200 women ITI pass out students of Electrician & Electronics stream every year for Schneider Electric Mysuru Campus. This will make them economically stronger in the society and in future, we will set up similar electrical lab facilities in other Government I.T.I’s across the Mysuru district.”
Government of India has a vision to replace 25 crore conventional meters with smart meters in India. Schneider Electric aims to support the Government of India’s Smart Meter National programme (SMNP) through its state-of-the-art energy meter manufacturing facility in Mysuru, Karnataka. Spread across 54,000 Sq. meters, this facility has supplied more than 80 Mn electricity meters across the country. The facility offers an integrated digital manufacturing system that can ensure process compliance, quality checks, traceability, and supply.
