More inclusive organizations have higher degrees of creativity, improved problem solving, and greater organizational performance; however, organizations often struggle to identify DEI initiatives that have a positive impact for their people and drive commercial value. According to McKinsey’s Diversity wins report, in 2019, top-quartile companies outperformed those in the fourth one by 36% in profitability. Additionally, companies with above-average total diversity had both 19% higher innovation revenues and 9% higher EBIT margins on average, as told by the Harvard Business Review.

“Diversity can be the difference between winning and losing. Demographic diversity is an absolute necessity but insufficient on its own. Diversity of thought is critical in situations of great risk and uncertainty, and diversity of capability helps organizations identify, assess, and mitigate risk,” said General (Ret.) Stanley McChrystal, CEO of McChrystal Group.

“Creating a truly inclusive work environment is a necessity for all of us to embrace to transform the way we experience work in the future and to unlock underleveraged potential within organizations,” states Pavlina Plasilova, Chief of Staff, McChrystal Group Team Science. “There is no other organization that we’d be more excited to partner with than Yardstick Management, who’s been pushing the envelope in this space for the last 10 years.”

The McChrystal Team Science Practice was established to help corporate leaders comprehend massive amounts of data and ultimately help drive better decision-making. By integrating critical concepts from organizational psychology, social network theory, studies of employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, risk climate assessments, and longitudinal methodologies, the Team Science Practice provides an actionable, prioritized perspective on organizational challenges. They also developed the Organizational Diagnostic to map out organizational influence networks and measure organizational performance and applied it to various Fortune 1000 companies.

“Diversity and inclusion can feel abstract and vague at times, which is why at Yardstick we develop plans with manageable actions that deliver clear results,” said Dr. Ebbie Parsons, III, Managing Partner at Yardstick Management. “With this partnership, we can create and monitor specific KPIs to reiterate the importance of diversity within a company and ensure their actions are making a significant difference.”
