SEH Technology Enables Secure and Reliable Remote Work with New, Entry-Level USB Device Server

Utnserver Pro® Connects End Users to USB Devices, Anywhere

SEH Technology Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of network solutions innovator SEH Computertechnik GmbH, today announced its next-generation, plug-and-play utnserver Pro® USB device server which replaces and is also backward compatible with its predecessor, the myUTN-50a USB device server. IT departments can use this entry-level, dual USB port device to connect end users to the USB devices they need to access in industrial, office or small office/home office (SOHO) environments. The utnserver Pro® can be extended by connecting a USB hub to one of the USB ports.

HR Technology News:  How To Manage A Remote Workforce

“Organizational leaders have been concerned about worker productivity as employees struggle to balance their work and personal lives at home”

“The COVID-19 pandemic created an urgent need for fast, dependable access to remote devices,” said Mike Majewski, president of SEH Technology, Inc. “With the utnserver Pro® in place, remote users can access devices and equipment that are meant to be used in a local environment.”

Over the years, SEH Technology’s device servers have been used for a variety of use cases including video production, digital forensics, and law enforcement agencies at the local, state and national level – including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Fast Wire Speeds and Backward Compatible

Today’s businesses need fast, reliable and secure access to technology assets regardless of where employees are working in the office or from home. Toward that end, the utnserver Pro® connects USB devices via its two USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports and a secure Ethernet connection to the network, creating a virtual USB cable extension to anywhere in the world. It supports any device with a USB port including external hard drives, dongles, card readers, barcode scanners, measuring devices and DRX backup systems.

“Organizational leaders have been concerned about worker productivity as employees struggle to balance their work and personal lives at home,” said Majewski. “Our customers were pleasantly surprised that our older product enabled work scenarios they didn’t think were possible. Our new utnserver Pro® enables even more advanced scenarios. In addition, the new and older SEH Technology USB device servers can be managed and used in the same environment as if they were all the same model product.”

Quick and Easy Setup, Administration and Management

All SEH Technology USB device servers, including the utnserver Pro®, can be centrally managed using the SEH Product Manager software for point-and-click device administration and the utnserver Control Center for point-and-click configuration, administration, monitoring and maintenance.

Like all other SEH Technology products, the utnserver Pro® is German engineered for reliability and backed by a 36-month warranty which can be extended to 60 months free of charge, simply by registering for the free 24-month extension.

Improved Security

And since security concerns are at an all-time high, the utnserver Pro® takes advantage of TLS 1.3 encryption, IEEE 802.1X authentication, certificate management, SNMPv3, VLAN (IEEE 802.1Q), TCP port access control, device access control, USB port access control and USB HID class blocking. Connections to USB devices can be made via LAN, VPN, VLAN and the Internet as well as server-based and virtualized environments.
