AmerisourceBergen, a global healthcare company, proudly announced that it received a perfect score of 100 on the 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking report on corporate policies in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality. This is the fourth year in a row AmerisourceBergen earned top marks from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

Developed in 2002, the CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices among major U.S. businesses, and their adoption of inclusive benefits, programs and public engagement. It has since become a nationally recognized benchmarking report for businesses to gauge their level of LGBTQ workplace inclusion.

AmerisourceBergen offers expanded benefits that the LGBTQ community can take advantage of, including coverage for gender reassignment surgery and associated services, HIV prevention medication, and family planning health and wellness benefits for same-sex partners. In addition to health benefits, AmerisourceBergen continues to prioritize a culture and environment where all employees feel connected, respected and included – which was particularly critical over the course of the past year when so many were required to move to a remote work environment and practice social and physical distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In June, while cities and towns made the difficult decision to postpone or cancel their 2020 Pride events, AmerisourceBergen mobilized to preserve a sense of LGBTQ+ Pride, and to bring its employee-base together virtually. Through various learning sessions, virtual celebratory events and online meetings, AmerisourceBergen employees and leaders came together to support one another and the community.
