CareerVillage and New Relic Transform EdTech with AI-Powered Career Coaching

CareerVillage built the world’s largest career advising community using New Relic, empowering millions of students and professionals to access career guidance

New Relic, the intelligent observability platform, announced that CareerVillage, an edtech nonprofit organization revolutionizing career advice by crowdsourcing expertise, has standardized its observability practice on New Relic. Known for hosting the world’s largest career advising community, CareerVillage depends on New Relic to drive innovation, scale, and enhance user experience as they serve a growing user base of over seven million users.

New Relic: The backbone of CareerVillage’s success

The New Relic all-in-one platform provides CareerVillage with real-time insights into system performance, allowing its engineering team to quickly identify trends and potential issues that could affect platform reliability and availability. With New Relic application performance monitoring (APM), the team gains a clear view of application health, tracking latency trends and pinpointing bottlenecks at the code level. By leveraging New Relic alert management, CareerVillage is proactive in detecting and resolving issues before they impact users.

This enables the engineering team to prioritize innovation while maintaining a high-performing platform that meets the needs of a diverse global audience. Their latest innovation, an AI-powered career coach named “Coach,” relies on New Relic to monitor response times and ensure a seamless experience for users seeking personalized career guidance.

Key achievements include:

  • 67% reduction in page load time: CareerVillage improved site performance, reducing page load time from 300 milliseconds to under 100 milliseconds, providing a faster, smoother user experience.
  • Scalability for peak performance: New Relic helped optimize CareerVillage’s login system, enabling up to 700 students to log in concurrently, and supporting over 6,000 student questions answered per month at peak periods.
  • 133% growth in engineering team productivity: By reducing time spent on monitoring and troubleshooting, CareerVillage’s engineering team expanded its capacity to focus on developing new features, driving innovation without increasing operational costs.

“As a small team with such an extensive platform, leaning on New Relic as our observability platform has allowed us to leverage cutting-edge technology and scale,” said CareerVillage Executive Director Jared Chung. “Our aim is to transform education through technology, and New Relic has been instrumental in our growth, delivering end-to-end insights into our IT stack and ensuring a smooth digital experience for millions of users worldwide.”
