The Ministry of Health recently introduced Ontario Regulation 364/20, the “Rules for Areas in Stage 3,” a regulation under the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020. All businesses are now required to screen every employee and essential visitor before they are permitted into a workplace. “Employees” are defined as staff (also known as salaried workers), students, contractors or volunteers that conduct business or related activities. In addition, this regulation covers “essential visitors,” defined as individuals providing a service in the establishment who are not employees or patrons of the establishment (e.g., delivery, maintenance and contract workers).
