The digital and virtual reality technical training leader, Interplay Learning, announced a remarkable increase in year-over-year sales of 300%, and customer usage is up 445% in 2020. Closing out the year with record-breaking numbers, the company’s growth was fueled by enterprises seeking safer, faster and more efficient training solutions for skilled trades workers in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, solar, multi-family maintenance and facilities maintenance. New customers included Lincoln Property Company, Lennox International Inc., Edward Rose & Sons, Hunt Military Communities, The International Training Institute and Neighborly Home Service Brands.

Unlike other solutions for the skilled trades, Interplay Learning’s unique Digital Experiential Learning (DExL) platform, SkillMill™, offers several innovations which are novel for this market. By incorporating virtual reality and 3D simulations, SkillMill™ offers lifelike, hands-on learning with immersive skills training that also uses gamification to create a highly engaging environment for the user. Online training is the new normal and is here to stay. This cutting-edge training enables workers to be job-ready in weeks, versus months or years. It also allows veteran techs to refresh the skills they may not encounter regularly in the field. Dozens of repair scenarios can be presented in one day, versus over the course of a year. Its continuous learning format is always available anytime and anywhere, as a digital mentor, with VR simulation greatly improving learning retention when compared to traditional classroom instruction.

Also contributing to Interplay’s record-breaking year were two executive additions in sales and marketing. With more than 15 years of sales leadership experience in software and high-tech, Andy Hughes joined as Vice President of Sales. Before joining Interplay Learning, Andy drove transformational growth at Cosential for the last four years. In his new position leading the sales team, he quickly became the driving force behind Interplay’s lightning-speed revenue growth. With almost 20 years of marketing leadership experience, Martha Aviles joined as Vice President of Marketing. She brings deep expertise in developing high-performing marketing teams at several high-growth organizations and extensive experience accelerating SaaS sales for tech start-ups and public companies, including successfully leading through almost 30 mergers and acquisitions.

“Our next-generation training solutions are helping companies worldwide build their own workforce and solve the skilled trades gap,” said Doug Donovan, CEO of Interplay Learning. “Both Andy and Martha were key executive additions for growth, as we continue to innovate and scale our Digital Experiential Learning (DExL) platform. Our solutions, utilizing 3D simulations and virtual reality, enable our users to have an immersive and highly engaging learning experience that is safer and faster than anything else in the industry.”
