SAP Eyes Massive Talent Acquisition Campaign; Targets 1000 New Staffers in 2023

Fortune 500 Company and One of Best Companies to Work For, SAP has announced it will hire 1000 new employees in 2023. The news comes amid massive layoffs that have ripped the technology industries around the world with results that could derail the growth economy. SAP could be tapping into the mid-level executive roles to amplify its current and emerging business operations across India and APAC, with Bangalore as its epicenter for development and innovation projects. Earlier, HCLTech had announced they would acquire 15,000 freshers for new roles and keep the growth momentum running into FY24 as new opportunities arise for Cloud and software development industry.

The news was confirmed by an Indian news publisher, quoting Sindhu Gangadharan, MD and SVP, SAP Labs India. Sindhu had confirmed India is a major talent acquisition center for SAP’s India operations and the organization would focus on building a strong talent pool starting with 1000 hires this year. SAP hasn’t been untouched by the spurt of layoffs and restructuring that hit the global tech firms, including SAP’s biggest competitors in the Cloud and IT consulting businesses. It laid off 400 employees in India in February, focusing on restructuring its global operations with a more value-added quotient to their customers.

SAP announced their financial results for Q1 2023 last week. The results showed cloud revenue was up 24% and up 22% at constant currencies. SAP S/4HANA cloud revenue was up 77% and up 75% at constant currencies. At the time of this announcement, SAP’s CEO Christian Klein had stated that the company has now entered a powerful new phase in their strategic transformation. SAP CEO had added how with “the topline and bottom-line results clearly demonstrating the tipping point we passed in the fourth quarter 2022. Our cloud momentum continues at a fast pace which is contributing to our strong revenue and double-digit non-IFRS operating profit growth this quarter.”

SAP S/4HANA Cloud remains a key asset for India-based developers and product managers. The new staffer could also closely align with SAP’s new office in SF. 

In more news from SAP, the company announced it is expanding its partnership with HP Inc. HP would be investing in the RISE with SAP solution to support  digital transformation, portfolio optimization and operational efficiency, empowering employees and customers with flexible workforce solutions across multiple regions. Scott Russell, Executive Board Member, Customer Success, SAP SE had stated, “HP was one of the first SAP strategic customers to standardize on SAP S/4HANA, and the company continues to serve as a model of how working with SAP can enable business transformation. This latest step forward not only supports the delivery of HP’s digital transformation – but also furthers HP’s vision of delivering future-ready services for its customers.”
