15Five Launches Best-Self Academy, Bridging the Management Skills Gap In Modern Businesses

15Five Responds to Market Demand for Leadership and Management Development With Scalable Online Training to Complement Its Popular Employee Performance Software.

15Five, a leading provider of people management software, announced the launch of a new educational component to its key business offerings, the Best-Self Academy. Backed by scientific research, the online education platform provides managers with training materials to build the primary skills needed to communicate more effectively, measure and improve performance, and create a positive, high-performing organization.

According to a recent 15Five report, nearly all 500 managers surveyed said they were able to meet employee expectations. However, 40% of the 1,000 full-time employees surveyed are somewhat or not at all confident in their manager’s ability to lead. In addition, half of employees believe they can do their manager’s job better. Managers too are looking to improve, with 75% of them craving more training opportunities. The Best-Self Academy bridges the management skills gap by providing actionable training for managers to help employees become their best selves at work, which improves performance and retention.

“More and more company leaders, like CHROs and chief executives, are realizing that people managers are the key to success. This explains the massive adoption of technology tools in the last few years to enable manager-employee communication and performance tracking,” said 15Five CEO and co-founder, David Hassell. “We’ve known for years that software tools improve performance, but manager training can significantly amplify those results.”

The Best-Self Academy synthesizes thousands of pages of research and codifies key lessons into training materials to turn every manager into a highly-effective leader. It teaches the principles of 15Five’s proven Best-Self Management methodology, which is credited for the company’s near-zero attrition, rapid growth, Great Place to Work certification and awards like Inc.’s Best Places to Work and Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work in 2020.

“15Five has provided volumes of resources for managers to improve their skills, like eBooks and webinars, but the vision has always been to launch a comprehensive education platform,” continued Hassell. “The launch of the Best-Self Academy is a leap forward in achieving our goal to unlock the potential of the global workforce. The Academy helps organizations address the hidden factors of growth and development in the workplace and refocus on what empowers managers and employees on their journey to becoming the best version of themselves.”

The Best-Self Academy currently offers a series of courses and lessons to achieve the Best-Self Manager Certification. This includes 20 videos on subjects such as building psychological safety and providing effective feedback to employees. Each lesson includes guidance for immediate application, like guidelines for an effective 1-on-1 meeting. In subsequent phases, the Academy will add programs for company leaders and individual contributors, followed by advanced courses for everyone.
