Main Street Recruitment Releases 2022 Industry Recruitment Trends Report Highlighting Skilled Labor Challenges

Report focuses on the continued transformation in talent acquisition throughout the United States in a year of COVID, Supply Chain Issues, and Worker Shortages.

Main Street Recruitment the Cleveland-based employment marketing agency, focused on strengthening the skilled labor workforce, has released a report on the strategic trends in blue collar recruitment. The report focuses on the hiring outlook for blue collar sectors, as well as workforce changes and the integration of technology into the recruitment process.

“Today’s market very challenging, especially with all the factors employers can’t control,” said Kristin Conteen, President, Main Street Recruitment. “The best way to stimulate recruitment and candidate acquisition is to reach potential candidates in new ways. In today’s economy, skilled workers understand they have more options than ever when looking at new positions. This has forced a major shift in hiring practices across all sectors.”

The skilled worker shortage is one of the main reasons for the supply chain and transportation shortages throughout the country. Main Street Recruitment’s recent report notes that everything from salaries to benefits have changed across the country. According to the report, “the most in-demand positions” are found in general mechanics, long-haul trucking, automotive, and manufacturing. The highest paid positions for skilled workers include nuclear power reactor operators, power distributors and dispatchers, first-line supervisors of police and detectives, elevator and escalator repair and mechanics, and policing (including detectives and criminal investigators).

“In 2022, the need for skilled workers is greater than at any time in the past,” said Conteen. “With the recruitment process becoming more simplified, due to the wealth of openings and the impact of technology, resumes will likely become a thing of the past. Compensation and benefits that were once reserved for white collar employees have now become the industry standard.”

Innovation, agility, and a willingness to change will dictate which companies succeed in their recruiting efforts and which will struggle. 2022, according to the report, will force companies to make long-needed changes to create a larger, more effective candidate and employee pool. Regardless of the sector, this is a year of progress, change and vitality, according to Main Street’s most recent industry report.

Main Street Recruitment takes a regionalized approach to recruiting skilled labor positions. By focusing on omni recruiting through a combination of localized and vertical-based marketing, the company can target potential candidates on an ongoing basis. The company works best with organizations looking to fill over 50 skilled labor positions annually.
