Talent industry veterans will focus on helping the HR community grow and enhance their careers while driving membership growth, engagement and product innovation
HR.com, the world’s leading social network and online community for human resources (HR) professionals, has announced two key strategic hires as the company continues its focus on growth and innovation.
Patrick Rooney will lead business operations as the General Manager, Corporate Services and Member Engagement, and Matt Charney has joined as the Talent Acquisition Community Advocate. Both roles are new to the organization.
These strategic appointments signal a shift in HR.com’s approach to better meet the needs of both employers and employees, including increasing engagement with members of the rapidly growing HR.com community.
As General Manager, Rooney will be responsible for general business management. He will work closely with the executive team to help the organization set strategic goals and create a roadmap for augmenting HR.com’s initiatives to provide value-added HR-related products and services to help HR professionals grow and manage their careers and organizations to equip their workforces with the skills and knowledge needed to compete today and into the future.

Charney will be key to driving member and industry engagement through thought leadership and subject matter expertise; and will be responsible for the strategy, and oversight of the HR.com talent acquisition community, including developing research studies, advisory boards, editorial education, and events to position the company as the go-to source for career enrichment and guidance for talent acquisition and recruiting leaders.

Rooney joins HR.com with over 25 years of experience driving outcome based digital transformation, creating and bringing new products to market, and helping high growth companies achieve success at scale. Most recently, Rooney served as the CEO and founder of Seventh Echo, a consulting firm working with small and midsize technology and professional service firms to accelerate revenue growth through customer advocacy. Previously, he co-founded the social media and digital marketing firm Zocalo Group (acquired by Omnicom Group) followed by QUEsocial, an employee advocacy technology platform (acquired by Symphony Technology Group).

Matt Charney, who most recently managed product marketing for SmartRecruiters, has extensive experience with the recruiting and talent technology verticals. He has over 15 years of experience leading marketing and thought leadership at global talent organizations such as Monster, CornerStone OnDemand, the Allegis Group, and Recruiting Daily where he has been a partner since 2014 and previously served as the site’s Executive Editor. Charney began his career in corporate talent acquisition as a recruiter and sourcer for companies like Warner Bros. and the Walt Disney Company.
