London based interview training company celebrates 15 years coaching candidates into new jobs and careers
When a London based entrepreneur left his lucrative banking job to create a boutique training firm, little did he realise that 15 years later it would be still be in business and going from strength to strength.
Founded in 2006 by Joe McDermott, InterviewGold specialises in coaching candidates through interviews and into new jobs.
To date, it has helped over 35,000 clients achieve dream roles in a broad range of organisations from the NHS, Government and Civil Service, top consultancy, accounting and law firms.
“It has certainly been a roller coaster ride, we have survived a global recession and the covid pandemic.” said McDermott. “We are delighted to celebrate these 15 years and to have helped so many people. It is very rewarding to hear positive reviews and success stories, it makes it all very worthwhile.”

Perhaps it’s no surprise InterviewGold is reviewed so successful, after all, the job interview process is still terrifying for many people.
The main InterviewGold service is an online training platform, which incorporates mock interviews, video tutorials and lessons. “Job hunters can practice in advance of an interview, rehearse answers and get their responses just right. This can make a big difference in reducing interview anxiety.” McDermott added.
During lockdown they saw a significant uptick in users. People were sitting at home, perhaps on furlough and it was the perfect opportunity to refresh or develop new skills.
They are updating the system continuously and just about to go live with their 2022 version. New video lessons, additional sample answers and updated advice will all form part of this promising upgrade.

“The recruitment world is constantly changing and we must keep up to date. For example, while employers are still using techniques such as competency-based interviewing, many job seekers must now also learn how to perform well in remote interviews.” McDermott claims job hunters may find being interviewed on video easier, but it is full of pitfalls and the InterviewGold training platform includes modules to help with this.
One such feature is a webcam recording function, whereby candidates can review their answers. This allows them to see and hear exactly how they come across to a prospective employer. Practicing with these tools can make a difference. The firm claims a 92% success rate of clients crediting the system with helping them get a job offer.
It sounds as though interviewing is here to stay and with a service like this that is proving so successful, we anticipate many more satisfied job hunters winning gold in their interviews as we move forward.
