Latham Employment Partner Rejoins Firm After Freshfields Stint

Major Vaseghi returned to Latham & Watkins after a stint at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which she joined in 2020 with the opening of her office in Silicon Valley.

The company said in a statement that Vaseghi will work in the Latham’s Bay Area offices as a partner in the executive compensation, hiring and benefits practice. You will also be a member of the Latham Tax Service.

“We are deeply committed to growing our company’s representation,” Brad Williamson, global head of executive compensation, employment and benefits practices at Latham, said in the statement. “Mag’s deep experience advising public companies on a range of matters underscores this commitment.”

Vasigye is the second partner to join Latham’s executive compensation practice this year, following the January appointment of Ben Rosmergy, former co-chair of the benefits and compensation group, Sidley Austin.

Vaseghi, who spent 16 years at Latham before leaving in 2020, advises public companies on corporate governance, securities law reporting and compliance, proxy advice and institutional shareholder voting guidance.

It also advises clients on executive compensation and employee benefits related to mergers and acquisitions and capital market transactions.

Vaseghi was one of Freshfields’ group of partners in 2020 from various large law firms to enter the burgeoning deal market involving California tech companies.

Previously, she worked as an internal securities and corporate governance advisor at VMware, a cloud and virtualization technology company.
