The global insurance organization American International Group (AIG) Inc. has appointed Karen Ling to the positions of Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective from 29th July 2019. President and CEO of AIG, Brian Duperreault would be in charge of Ling’s activities at the organization where she will also be a part of the ELT (Executive Leadership Team).
The associate companies of AIG provide a wide array of retirement products, life insurance policies, property-casualty insurances, and other financial services to customers. AIG has been in existence for over a century and has its presence via its network of member companies in over 80 countries and jurisdictions around the globe.

Deep expertise and proven leadership in the HR realm
The CEO, Mr. Duperreault said, “Karen brings to AIG a combination of deep expertise and proven leadership in advancing a global human resources strategy during times of transformation. Karen is a valuable addition to the AIG ELT as we continue to restore AIG as the leading insurance company in the world.”
Ms. Ling will pilot AIG’s overall HR department and will be accountable for aligning the company’s talent strategy with its long-term operational, tactical, and financial objectives. As CHRO, she will oversee all aspects of human capital management that include talent acquisition, training, learning, and development (TLD), compensation and benefits, and diversity and inclusion. She was excited at the prospect of joining AIG and revealed that she was looking to contribute to the positive momentum of the company. She plans on deploying a strategy that drives the employees to succeed and execute the strategy outlined by Brian and his Executive Leadership Team.
Karen Ling holds a JD from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. She comes to the firm after serving Allergan plc for five years as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Previously, Ms. Ling had worked at Merck and Wyeth fetching over a decade of experience in various roles related to human resources.
