GEICO’s Kansas City Regional Office Increases Starting Salaries Significantly for Many Positions

  • Associate Katie Campbell: “GEICO was my life-changer. I can’t brag enough about GEICO”

GEICO significantly increased starting salaries for sales, service and claims positions at the company’s Kansas City regional office.

“I had great colleagues in my training program. In fact, I met someone who would be a bridesmaid at my upcoming wedding at that very training. It’s really true that you make lifelong relationships at GEICO”

Sales and service associates at GEICO are licensed, professional insurance agents, provided with extensive training and continuing education. GEICO offers an excellent benefits package and is currently looking for energetic people who have a positive attitude, enjoy helping others and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Kansas City associate Katie Campbell came to GEICO like many other associates: word of mouth. One of her good friends was interning at GEICO. She went to a BBQ and the intern’s mother strongly suggested Campbell think about GEICO.

“My friend always talked about how he made a lot of friends and it was a place he knew he could be at for a while. I was 19 and working at a grocery store, so I gave it a chance. I also liked the opportunity for tuition reimbursement,” said Campbell.

GEICO continually modifies hiring processes to create fast applicant experiences. “I was offered a job all in one day. I remember asking them if they were sure because I didn’t know anything about insurance,” Campbell jokes.

With any new job, Campbell was nervous, but “I had great colleagues in my training program. In fact, I met someone who would be a bridesmaid at my upcoming wedding at that very training. It’s really true that you make lifelong relationships at GEICO,” said Campbell.

Campbell started as a service representative working on bundling different insurance policies together and quickly advanced to be a coach. Three years in, GEICO was opening an office in Kansas City and Campbell jumped at the chance because of all the opportunity it would provide. Campbell, one of the original Kansas City associates, was promoted that December—and has never looked back.

“At every step, my mentors and supervisors helped me map out how my career would advance and what training and expertise I needed,” said Campbell.

In addition to advancement, Campbell feels at home at GEICO because of the diversity and inclusion initiatives. Campbell is the location chair for the GROW employee resource group, which provides a safe space, grounded in support and respect, to develop current and future allies of women.

Campbell’s experience is shared by many of her Kansas City colleagues, according to Regional Vice President Shane Wheeler. “At every step of an associate’s career there are many people who have their back and are helping train them up and ensure they advance. Because of this, we’re constantly opening up positions for new associates. It’s never been easier to change careers and join GEICO,” said Wheeler.

A member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies, GEICO is a stable company that was founded 85 years ago. The company’s Total Rewards benefits package includes health, dental and vision coverage, paid vacation and holidays, and continuing education and tuition reimbursement.

Campbell has taken advantage of numerous GEICO benefits. “I am close to finishing my degree—mostly paid for by GEICO. I used my 2020 bonus to pay for my upcoming wedding. GEICO really provides all the support and benefits you might need,” said Campbell.

When asked what she tells people about GEICO, Campbell answered, “GEICO was my life-changer. I met my fiancé and a bridesmaid, began college, moved across the country and bought a house. There are so many routes you can take with your career. It really is what you make of it. You don’t have to know insurance. I walked in at 19 knowing nothing. They give you all the tools you need to take it where you want to go. I can’t brag enough about GEICO.”
