Tallo + Greater Des Moines Partnership to Help Iowa’s Future Workforce and Businesses Better Understand One Another

New Partnership AIMS to Assure a Career-Ready Future Workforce and Gauge Interest for Key Iowa Industries.

In its latest effort to boost the region’s economy, the Greater Des Moines Partnership is turning its attention to Iowa’s future workforce by partnering with Tallo, a digital platform and app that connects talent with opportunities.

Tapping into Tallo’s user pool, the Greater Des Moines Partnership hopes to raise awareness of career opportunities with Greater Des Moines (DSM) employers and career preparation opportunities at higher education institutions.

“DSM is experiencing momentum as a great place to live and work, and has a thriving business community,” said Mary Bontrager, Executive Vice President of Talent Development at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “Tallo will help us continue to increase our talent pipeline so our employers can connect with students who are interested in the type of career path that their organization can offer.”

Through this new initiative, DSM employers will use Tallo to showcase their industry to talent, including what skills and experiences are required, and what opportunities are currently available – from internships and apprenticeships to part-time and full-time employment. Students can learn from a young age what career opportunities are available in companies in DSM.

Tallo will also conduct an industry-perception survey with students and Tallo users in Iowa. With these insights, DSM employers can better understand how to market their organization to attract top talent locally and nationally.

“All across the country, businesses are struggling to find qualified talent because tomorrow’s workforce doesn’t have a good understanding of their career options,” said Casey Welch, CEO and Co-founder of Tallo. “State by state, we’re working to change that, and we can’t wait to see how this partnership strengthens the Greater Des Moines area by uncovering and shifting students’ perceptions of the industries that call it home.”
