Some Employers are Dealing with Urgent Demands that Require High-Volume Recruitment During the Pandemic – According to New Study by the HR Research Institute

Despite the pandemic and economic downturn, many organizations have been recruiting high volumes of employees to meet urgent needs. In fact, among organizations that have used high-volume recruitment methods, 40% say the pandemic has actually made them more likely to engage in such recruitment( HR Research ).

The free research report, The State of High-Volume Recruitment and Assessments 2021, is now available for download. The HR Research Institute, powered by HR.com, conducted a recent study of human resources (HR) professionals to better understand the state of high-volume recruitment and assessments, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

High-volume recruitment involves filling a larger-than-average number of positions in a relatively short time frame. Certain industries such as health care, delivery and shipping service, and grocery have engaged in such recruitment recently either via in-house recruitment department or with the help of external providers and partners.

Most organizations that do high-volume recruitment believe they are relatively good at it, but there is room for improvement. Only 32% of HR professionals strongly agree that their organizations are good at high-volume recruitment. Of those companies, most sometimes (53%) or always (26%) use external partners, especially staffing agencies, for some part of their high-volume recruiting.

Further analysis investigates the differences between companies perceived as successfully executing high-volume recruiting and those that are not. High-volume recruitment leaders are much more likely to outsource at least some part of high-volume recruitment, strategize and define this recruitment, and apply artificial intelligence (AI), metrics, and assessment tools.

“Although many organizations have experienced reductions in their workforce or hiring freezes, there are others that have had to adapt to huge demand and quickly hire in large numbers,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “This can be incredibly taxing logistically, but there are some steps they can take to ensure better success.”
