Bluedrop Learning Networks Inc. (“Bluedrop”), a subsidiary of BPLI Holdings Inc. announced that Bluedrops’ COVID-19 Best Practices for a Safe Workplace course was officially launched by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The announcement was made by Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Chief Medical Officer of Health in advance of the Canada Day holiday.

The 35-40 minute interactive online training program was designed under the guidance of several noted experts, including Canada’s former Deputy Chief Health Officer, Dr. David Mowat. The course was then localized and readied for launch within the Province through a partnership with the Department of Community Health, ServiceNL and WorkplaceNL.

The training will provide every worker with straightforward instruction on how to keep themselves, their coworkers, and their customer safe. The course provides the foundational knowledge for workers in any region or industry. In addition to reducing the risk of COVID-19 clusters at work, it will increase confidence and reduce anxiety for workers and employers overwhelmed by the onslaught of COVID-19 information and misinformation. Upon completion of the training, each worker is issued a COVID-19 Work Safe e-certificate that can be shared/scanned or printed/posted for customers and coworkers to see. The SkillsPass learning platform will deliver the course, and it will provide interested employers with the ability to assign the course to their staff and then track their completions.

The COVID-19 course is the 17th course accessible to all residents and businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador as part of the SkillsPassNL online training program. SkillsPassNL helps businesses and employees to comply with the latest provincial workplace best practices and regulations.

Newfoundland and Labrador quickly responded to the need for credible workplace training. National surveys show that most workers, and consumers are seeking credible COVID-19 training at work.

Commenting on the announcement, Founder and CEO Emad Rizkalla said, “Bluedrop has been around upskilling and training long enough to know how stressful it is for business owners and managers to deal with COVID-19. Without this training, we are essentially asking them to take on new roles as public health experts and professional trainers. We are fortunate that we have amazing partners in the Province and the technical and learning capabilities to help. I am confident that professional COVID-19 training for workplaces of all sizes embodies our shared fight against COVID-19 and strengthens the firewall against a second wave. Let us be honest, there are some people who dread returning to work because they do not feel safe. We will only know that we got it right when every one of us is confident that the person serving them or sitting in the next office is properly trained on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
