“We define global as a mindset rather than a geography. We’re seeking students who want to expand beyond their comfort zones and learn from peers here in Berkeley and across the world.”

“Now more than ever, we must realize that our lives are interconnected, and that education has always been the most effective way to develop cultural humility,” says Dean Diana Wu. “We define global as a mindset rather than a geography. We’re seeking students who want to expand beyond their comfort zones and learn from peers here in Berkeley and across the world.”

Eligible students can apply for Berkeley Global’s many programs across dozens of subjects in science, technology, business, and arts & letters. Formats range from online self-paced courses to full-time study abroad, as well as a new version called “Live Online.” This modality combines the convenience of online study with instructor-led sessions.

“It’s important that we meet a variety of student needs,” says Wu. “We have programs for high schoolers seeking an American educational experience to seasoned professionals upskilling for a major career transition. UC Berkeley Global students can take courses right alongside other Berkeley students with some of the top faculty in the world, or study a specialized topic from industry experts. Flexibility is an important part of the student journey.”

Berkeley Global extends the reach of UC Berkeley’s impact by providing access and opportunities to a broad and diverse community of international learners. Students come from all over the world to study at the top-ranked public university.
