We’d love deeper details on Iron Mountain’s new HR solution and what makes it unique?
In September, we launched an AI-driven Digital HR solution that addresses key challenges faced by HR departments by enabling them to streamline their HR processes, enhance efficiency, and elevate the employee experience. It is a scalable, low-code software-as-a-service solution (SaaS) specifically designed for HR that can integrate with, complement, and enhance existing HR systems. The solution offers:
- A unified platform with AI capabilities that allows HR departments to efficiently search, sort, and summarize information.
- Automated process workflows and insightful dashboards that assess employee file completeness and compliance to reduce time, effort, cost, and errors.
- Data security in a secure cloud platform that meets industry standards.
The Digital HR solution is built on the Iron Mountain InSight® Digital Experience Platform (DXP), an SaaS designed to revolutionize Iron Mountain customers’ digital transformations by maximizing the value of their physical and digital data.

How are you seeing modern HRTech features from around the global HRTech landscape change the end game for HRs? Can you talk about some of the most exciting HRTech features and platforms that have piqued your interest and why?
The landscape of HR is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by technological advancements. HR professionals are shifting from administrative roles to strategic partnerships, focusing on initiatives that directly impact business success. AI, in particular, is revolutionizing how we engage with employees (both current and future) and make data-driven decisions. By automating tasks like resume screening and workforce planning, AI empowers us to analyze vast amounts of data and optimize our strategies.
Furthermore, cloud-based HR solutions are streamlining administrative processes and providing customizable platforms tailored to specific needs. Iron Mountain Digital HR, a comprehensive solution, embodies these trends, enabling our team and clients to allocate resources to higher-value strategic initiatives.
What about today’s overall HR scope of work needs a complete change in your view?
Many HR departments operate within a complex physical and digital information ecosystem and implement inefficient, manual processes, making it challenging to manage data and quickly comply with audits. In fact, 73% of HR leaders say their work is more administrative and process focused than strategic (source), 77% say that freeing up time for HR is one of the advantages of information management technology (source). What I’m excited about with our new solution is that it helps HR departments shift from an administrative function to a true strategic partner of the business by addressing common challenges, streamlining processes, and enhancing efficiency to free up HR teams to focus on strategy, executing initiatives, and fostering collaboration and innovation at their organizations. This will improve the overall employee experience and their interactions with HR – something I’m already seeing with my own team, who have implemented the solution to support their work.
With HRTech evolving to help HR teams scale and gather insights and data faster than before, how do you envision the role of the typical HR and the structure of a typical HR team will change in future?
The evolution and adoption of HR tech, such as our new Digital HR solution, by HR teams will help them become more flexible, agile, and up to date on their human capital information. This will allow HR teams to play a more strategic role in helping the businesses they support build a competitive advantage in a volatile employment market. It also will free up time for HR teams to provide a better employee experience.
A few HRTech optimization tips you’d share with our readers here before we wrap up.
Below are three optimization tips I recommend HR teams consider based on the common challenges they face across industries.
- Simplify your HR ecosystem. A complex physical and digital HR information ecosystem, with limited information management functionality in your Human Capital Management (HCM) system(s), makes it difficult to find what you need when you need it. This will help HR teams easily search and access information on a unified digital platform.
- Automate manual and repetitive HR processes, as HR staff spends too much time on manual, tactical tasks. By doing so, HR teams can reduce the time, effort, cost, and errors, as well as get the right information to the right people in the organization quickly.
- Ensure that your HR documents are securely protected and accessible in a safe repository anytime, anywhere. This will enable HR teams to maintain compliance with their company and industry security standards, especially for documents containing sensitive information.
