Journey Strategic Wealth Appoints New Chief Growth Officer

Justin Starnes joins Journey Strategic Wealth to help grow advisor partnerships

Journey Strategic Wealth (“JSW”), a nationwide advisory firm with a mission to redefine what it means to be “independent” in the financial advice industry, announced it has appointed Justin Starnes as its Chief Growth Officer. As JSW continues to grow in scope and size, Starnes will lead the firm’s advisor partnerships and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) efforts, identifying advisory teams that will benefit from the firm’s concierge service and operations model.

“I have worked with many firms who speak about their dedication to the advisor journey, but the strategic vision JSW has put forth to support the advisor is truly unique”

With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and wealth management industries, Starnes has a deep understanding of consulting, relationship management and recruiting. He is tasked with identifying advisors who fit JSW’s ethos of providing fiduciary advice while helping clients live their best financial lives while working in the manner that best suits both advisor and client. JSW provides support for every aspect of a practice including operations, finance, human resources, technology, marketing, compliance and human capital.

“I have worked with many firms who speak about their dedication to the advisor journey, but the strategic vision JSW has put forth to support the advisor is truly unique,” Starnes said. “They walk the walk and want advisors to have all the resources they need without sacrificing their dreams. I look forward to building out the practice in support of the exceptional advisors we work with every day.”

Starnes began his career working in alternative investments at Goldman Sachs and was most recently the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Antrim Bay & Co, providing consulting services and M&A guidance to financial advisors, in addition to capital sourcing for private investments. Preceding Antrim Bay, Starnes was Senior Vice President of Business Development and Distribution at Carson Group and led the national sales and national accounts divisions of asset manager Swan Global Investments.

“We lead with objectivity, compassion and intention when working with advisors and our goal is to have them feel as if they have found their true home here at Journey,” said Penny Phillips, JSW President & Co-Founder. “Justin will play a vital role in the success of that mission, supporting advisors along the journey to independence, helping them find professional satisfaction.”

This hire comes on the heels of JSW adding a Head of Advisory to the team earlier this year, Jason Sangekar, CFA, the former Head of Advisory for Magnus and Chief Operating Officer of an institutional brokerage firm.

JSW is a full-service registered investment advisor (RIA) that provides full operational support for practices along with flexible solutions for succession and continuity so that financial planners can focus on the best outcomes for their clients.
