Mitel Appoints Sophie Ames as EVP & Chief People Officer

Experienced HR and technology leader to amplify global culture and enable talent strategies for growth

Mitel, a global leader in business communications announced the appointment of Sophie Ames as EVP & Chief People Officer (CPO), bringing with her 25 years of HR experience in the technology sector.

Ames will lead Mitel’s People & Culture function globally, overseeing the company’s HR operations in more than 30 countries, and will be responsible for developing and driving new initiatives to optimize for scale. As a key member of Mitel’s executive leadership team, Ames will be focused on attracting, retaining and developing top talent and driving engaging employee experiences while ensuring Mitel’s people strategies are aligned with the company’s strategic priorities and growth initiatives.

Ames brings an innovative and modern approach to HR and operational leadership, with extensive experience in M&A and building global cultures. Most recently, she served as SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer for ServiceMax, where she launched a new people strategy and aligned HR operations to better support company objectives through to a successful sale of the company. Prior to ServiceMax, she was SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer at Veritas Technologies, a global leader in enterprise data management software, where she led a comprehensive HR transformation including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement and development, DEI programs, and more. Ames previously held senior leadership positions in HR, sales enablement, and field operations at Avaya, as well as HR management positions at AMDOCS, Thomson Legal & Regulatory, and Berlitz International.
