Former Facebook Executive and CPO at Snapdeal to Lead Strategy and Development of Industry Leading Product Portfolio
Five9, Inc., a leading provider of the intelligent cloud contact center, announced recognized product leader and innovator Anand Chandrasekaran has joined the company as EVP of Product Management.

Chandrasekaran, who most recently was a Director at Facebook focused on the Messenger Platform, will oversee the strategy, roadmap and lifecycle of the Five9 product portfolio. He will report directly to CEO Rowan Trollope and be based at the company’s headquarters in San Ramon, Calif.
“Anand’s track record for developing innovative products at scale, seen in his extensive work at Facebook, combined with his expertise in strategic communications, makes him an excellent addition to our executive team,” said Trollope. “His outside perspective will complement our contact center experience to ensure continued innovation and leadership.”

Chandrasekaran has 17 years of experience building successful products and leading product organizations. At Facebook, he spent nearly three years overseeing its Messenger software developer ecosystem, which upon his departure had 300,000 active bots with eight billion messages exchanged between business and consumers. Previously, Chandrasekaran was CPO at Snapdeal, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies with current annual gross sales exceeding $9 billion, and Bharti Airtel, one of the world’s largest mobile network operators with almost 300 million subscribers. He also co-founded Aeroprise, which became the most-deployed solution worldwide for mobile IT service management.
“I’m a firm believer in customer relationships as a core driver of retention for companies and brands, and that AI can help humans within these service oriented companies to retain those relationships and make them even stronger,” said Chandrasekaran, who in addition to his operating background is an early stage investor in AI technologies and messaging services companies. “It’s what drove my work at Facebook building the Messenger Platform and my passion for picking technology bets at the interface of people and businesses, and it has immense potential in the contact center. I’m very excited to join Five9 and to work with the team to elevate customer experience though the contact center.”

Chandrasekaran holds a bachelor’s in communications engineering from PSG College of Technology in India, and a master’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University. In 2010, Chandrasekaran was named Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum, which previously honored co-founders and executives of companies like Google, Slack, WeWork and Lyft.
Chandrasekaran is the newest member of the Five9 executive team, which was recently bolstered with the additions of Jonathan Rosenberg, former VP and CTO of Cisco’s Collaboration Technology Group, and David Pickering, former VP of Engineering at Intuit. This expanded product and technical leadership positions Five9 to further accelerate our pace of innovation in service to our customers.
