Sponsorship Gives 40,000 High School Students Access to Ramsey Education’s Life-Changing Lessons

For a third consecutive year, Jackson Charitable Foundation, the charitable-giving arm of Jackson National Life Insurance Company® (Jackson®), is making it possible for even more high schools across the country to teach Ramsey Education’s Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum.

Jackson’s $1 million contribution ensures that during the 2020-2021 school year, more than 40,000 high school students at 500 schools nationwide have access to proven money principles that are helping to shape the lives of millions. Since 2018, Jackson’s sponsorship has helped ensure 100,000 high school students benefit from this important curriculum.

“Financial education is always important, but when there are economic disruptions, like what we’re seeing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it shines a spotlight on economic disparities and financial fragility,” said Danielle Robinson, executive director, Jackson Charitable Foundation. “By providing these resources for teachers and students, we hope to be part of a long-term solution. The knowledge students take away from Foundations in Personal Finance equips them for life’s ups and downs, helping them build the future of their dreams.”

Teachers transitioning from physical to virtual classrooms can count on Ramsey Education’s support and Foundations’ digital versatility as they walk students through real-world scenarios, teaching them to save, budget, avoid debt, spend wisely and invest. After taking Foundations in Personal Finance, students who benefited from the Jackson Charitable Foundation’s 2019-2020 donation grew their overall knowledge of personal finance by 31 percentage points.1

Personal finance expert Dave Ramsey began Ramsey Education to address a concern he heard regularly when counseling adults on money issues, “Why don’t they teach this stuff in school?” Thus, the creation of Foundations in Personal Finance.

Jackson Charitable Foundation’s commitment makes it possible for teachers to do what they do best, which is make a real difference in the lives of students.”

More than 5 million students have benefited from Ramsey Education’s Foundations in Personal Finance in middle schools, high schools and universities nationwide.2 The curriculum can be used as a resource to fulfill requirements in mathematics, economics, family and consumer sciences, business mathematics and personal finance. In its digital format, Foundations offers flexible features like customizable syllabi, auto-graded assessments and the option to stream videos outside the classroom for a customized learning experience.
