Blackline Vision Transforms the Future of Workplace Safety Through Artificial Intelligence

Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX.V: BLN), a global leader of gas detection and connected safety solutions, announced today that its Blackline Vision data science team is launching testing with select clients for its first artificial intelligence (AI) software module, which will help organizations gain further operational insights for improved workforce safety, quality and productivity.

“Through artificial intelligence, we are taking the power of data to an entirely new level of protection”

Blackline Vision’s AI Gas Leak Detection module focuses on the automatic early detection of gas leaks by identifying patterns in low-level gas readings streamed to the Blackline Safety Cloud from G7 wearable gas monitors. Advance detection and proactive maintenance will enable gas leaks to be identified early, minimizing unexpected future downtime while keeping everyone safe. The initial client testing phase will run through December 2020.

With many industries relying on gas alarms from fixed or personal gas monitors, or periodic manual assessments to identify or detect leaks, the AI Gas Leak Detection module will automate the process, requiring no additional equipment, eliminating the risk of human error and enhancing organizations’ ability to maximize uptime while keeping people safe.

“Through artificial intelligence, we are taking the power of data to an entirely new level of protection,” said Sean Stinson, VP Sales and Product Management for Blackline Safety. “With the launch of this module’s testing phase, we are one step closer to proactively detecting gas leaks using the same data that streams from G7 wearables. This type of automation — leak detection without the need for additional equipment — is unheard of in the safety industry and only possible through our combination of direct-to-cloud connectivity, location technology, cloud-hosted software and data science.”

Clients participating in the module testing will have access to a web portal that automatically maps all potential leaks on their worksites, leveraging data from the Blackline Safety Cloud. The portal will enable users to interact with their data to explore a detailed history of leaks in that area and other pertinent safety insights.

Blackline Vision expects to release the AI Gas Leak Detection module worldwide in early 2021. This is the first of many AI modules the Blackline Vision team will develop as it continues to transform the safety industry through additional tools that enhance the productivity and safety of connected workers across the globe.
